OUR APPROACH

The warmth of home, with the standards of a school.

Children learn best when they feel safe, known, and supported by caregivers who understand their development and respect them as individuals. Our approach centers on building strong relationships, predictable routines, and a nurturing environment where learning happens naturally through play, exploration, and connection.

Relationships Come First

Children are not interchangeable—and care should never feel that way.

At Tykes Academy, teachers are assigned to specific classrooms rather than rotating throughout the building. This allows children to form secure attachments, build trust, and feel confident in their environment.

Strong relationships are the foundation for everything else we do—from emotional regulation to early learning. When children feel safe with the adults around them, they are more willing to explore, communicate, and try new things.

Emotional Regulation & Social Development

Learning how to manage feelings comes before learning letters and numbers.

We place a strong emphasis on helping children identify emotions, communicate needs, and navigate social situations in developmentally appropriate ways. Emotional regulation, problem-solving, and independence are intentionally woven into daily routines—not treated as afterthoughts.

Through gentle guidance, modeling, and consistent expectations, children learn how to:

  • Express feelings safely

  • Build resilience

  • Practice empathy

  • Develop confidence in group settings

Intentional Learning Without Academic Pressure

Intentional Learning Without Academic Pressure

Our approach to learning is play-based, purposeful, and grounded in child development.

Activities are thoughtfully planned to support language, early literacy, numeracy, motor development, and curiosity—while still allowing children the freedom to explore, imagine, and engage at their own pace.

We focus on preparing children for what comes next without pushing them beyond what is developmentally appropriate. Our curriculum is aligned with Kentucky Early Learning Standards and designed to support kindergarten readiness without burnout.

Consistency Families Can Count On

Intentional Learning Without Academic Pressure

Families deserve stability, transparency, and peace of mind.

At Tykes Academy, we prioritize:

  • Predictable daily routines

  • Stable staffing and classroom continuity

  • Clear communication with families

  • Consistent expectations and care practices

Parents should know what their child’s day looks like—and who is caring for them—without surprises. That consistency allows children to thrive and families to feel confident in their care choice.

An Intentional Fit for Families

Choosing childcare is deeply personal, and the right environment matters.

Tykes Academy is designed for families who value strong relationships, emotional development, and a warm, structured environment where children are truly known.

We invite you to visit, ask questions, and see whether our approach feels like the right fit for your family.

Skills that form the Foundation for life

Every stage of early childhood comes with unique needs—and our programs are designed to meet children right where they are.

At Tykes Academy, classrooms are thoughtfully structured by age and development, allowing children to grow in an environment that feels both nurturing and intentional. From infants learning to feel safe and secure, to preschoolers building confidence, independence, and readiness for kindergarten, each program supports emotional growth, social development, and early learning in age-appropriate ways.

We believe children thrive when routines are predictable, relationships are consistent, and learning feels meaningful—not rushed. Our programs reflect that belief at every stage.

Our Programs

Care that feels personal, intentional, and dependable

Home-Like Care, Elevated by Center-Level Standards

Home-Like Care, Elevated by Center-Level Standards

We were intentionally designed to bridge the gap between home-based care and large corporate centers.

Families often love the warmth and familiarity of in-home childcare—but need the reliability, staffing, and resources of a licensed center. At Tykes Academy, we combine the best of both.

What we preserve from a home-like environment:

Home-Like Care, Elevated by Center-Level Standards

Home-Like Care, Elevated by Center-Level Standards

  • Consistent caregivers and familiar faces
  • Small-group experiences within classrooms
  • Daily routines that feel calm and predictable
  • Family-style meals and meaningful interactions

What a center allows us to provide:

Home-Like Care, Elevated by Center-Level Standards

What a center allows us to provide:

  • Purpose-built classrooms by developmental stage
  • Teaching teams rather than a single caregiver
  • Reliable hours and continuity of care
  • Licensing oversight, inspections, and accountability
  • Enrichment opportunities and structured learning progression

Safety, Security & Peace of Mind

Intentional Safety, Every Day

Families deserve to feel confident not only in how their child is cared for—but also in how their child is protected.

At Tykes Academy, safety is built into our environment, routines, and training. Our systems are designed to support supervision, preparedness, and clear communication without creating an atmosphere of fear or rigidity.

Secure Entry & Supervision

Our center is designed with controlled access to support child safety throughout the day.

  • Secure entry procedures during operating hours

  • Visitor identification and sign-in protocols

  • Classrooms designed for clear lines of sight and supervision

Children are supervised at all times in accordance with state licensing requirements.

Monitoring & Oversight

To support supervision and accountability, Tykes Academy utilizes a camera monitoring system throughout the facility.

This system is used as part of our overall safety and operational practices and supports staff supervision, leadership oversight, and incident review when necessary. Camera use follows all applicable privacy and licensing guidelines.

Our focus is on maintaining a secure, well-supervised environment while respecting the privacy and dignity of children and staff.

Staff Training & Preparedness

The safety of our program begins with the people in the building.

All staff members are required to:

  • Meet Kentucky licensing and background check requirements

  • Complete required health and safety training

  • Participate in ongoing professional development

Our team is trained to follow established procedures calmly and consistently.

Staff Training Requirements

Emergency Procedures & Drills

We maintain clear procedures for a variety of emergency situations, including fire and severe weather.

  • Emergency plans are in place and reviewed regularly

  • Fire and weather drills are conducted as required

  • Staff are trained to respond quickly and appropriately

Our goal is preparedness without alarm—helping children feel safe and supported during drills and unexpected events.

A Thoughtfully Prepared Environment

Safety at Tykes Academy is not limited to emergencies—it’s part of daily care.

  • Age-appropriate classroom design

  • Clean, organized learning spaces

  • Routines that support predictability and calm transitions

These elements work together to create an environment where children can explore, learn, and grow with confidence.
